NaPoWriMo2017: Day 3

Relishing finely crafted fiction, books bring me

Never allow my hands to be bereft of delectable diction,

Greedily grabbing another as soon as the story is done.

‘Til Next Year

Across the nation, a sigh of contented relief
as poets stretch their cramped fingers,
push back their roller chairs,
and turn the monitors off.
Time to live the words we whispered aloud.

A Lover’s Request

Be careful.
For you carry my soul in your

Be gentle.
For you display my heart in your

Be kind.
For you illustrate my life in your

Be patient.
For you (sometimes) stumble my story in your

Be unafraid.
For you are my words
and no one loves you better.

NaPoWriMo2016: Day 29

The Magical M&Ms

And so the mother began:
“The young boy pored over his trove of treats
meticulously organizing each by color
then, using his youthful powers, magically bestowed
special properties for each candy-coated sphere of chocolate.
For those who dared to eat,
Yellow would bring a smile upon the consumer,
Orange would make a person giggle while
Red would make an angry body calm.
Blue would make a body sigh with contentment,
Green would grant a dozen hugs, and finally
Brown would help a person ‘think before they do.’
Pleased with his creation, he then granted a special color
to all those he loved,
saving a lone green for himself.”
The mother reached over, hugged the young boy, and savored blue.
